what to expect at your childs the first dental check up

The Canadian Dental Association recommends that children have their first visit to the dentist within six months of the appearance of a tooth or by the age of one year. Here are some things you can expect at your child’s first dental check-up:

  • Meet and Greet – Formally introducing your child to the dentist is a great way to make sure your child feels comfortable.

  • Tooth Talk – The dentist will review your child’s dental history, explain the check-up procedure and answer any questions you or your child has.

  • Getting Started Good Habits – Good habits start early. The dentist will show your child the proper way to brush and floss.

  • Pick a Prize – Your child will get to choose a prize every visit, regardless of how the check-up went.
