The Canadian Dental Association recommends that children have their first visit to the dentist within six months of the appearance of a tooth or by the age of one year. Here are some things you can expect at your child’s first dental check-up:
- Meet and Greet – Formally introducing your child to the dentist is a great way to make sure your child feels comfortable.
- Tooth Talk – The dentist will review your child’s dental history, explain the check-up procedure and answer any questions you or your child has.
- Getting Started Good Habits – Good habits start early. The dentist will show your child the proper way to brush and floss.
- Pick a Prize – Your child will get to choose a prize every visit, regardless of how the check-up went.
